An Ethnological Perspective on Religious Socialism

The Universal Christian Church (UCC), which I have had the honor of founding, is more than a church: it is a movement. Our aim is to harmonize universal values with the cultural fabric of our Liberia and, more broadly, of West Africa. Through religious socialism, we seek not only to heal the wounds of the past but also to build a society founded on justice, love, and collective progress.

In our work, we are committed to integrating Christianity with Africa’s cultural roots. Ethnology guides us in understanding local traditions, histories, and social structures, helping to identify the intersection between universal spirituality and ethnic identities. Our philosophy strives to honor this diversity while simultaneously promoting a message of unity and collaboration.

Our church is not limited to the religious sphere; it is deeply engaged in wide-reaching social and cultural work. This integrative mission is structured around three main pillars:

  1. Education and Scientific Progress: We create schools and training centers that offer education balancing science and ethical values. We believe in a future where knowledge is accessible to all.

  2. Community Infrastructure: We build hospitals, wells, and sustainable energy systems, aiming to improve living conditions in underserved communities.

  3. Intercultural Dialogue: We organize forums and gatherings to promote dialogue between local traditions and universal values, seeking to create bridges between faith and culture.

The religious socialism we propose is not merely a political model; it is a spiritual and practical pathway aimed at justice and equity. We draw inspiration from African principles of sharing and community support, reinterpreting them through the lens of Christian faith. We aspire to build a society where no one is left behind.

Although our mission begins in Liberia, we dream of an Africa united in its diversity. We hope that other countries, such as Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire, will join us in this vision while always respecting the unique cultural characteristics of each nation.

The Universal Christian Church is the result of a dream: a world where spirituality, culture, and progress unite to create a better future. It is an ambitious mission, but we firmly believe that, with the support of God and people, we can achieve this goal.
